The Blood of Dawnwalker On the Run Quest Guide
Complete On the Run in The Blood of Dawnwalker: track Iorgu’s pig, handle Kuno, use an apple or catch the animal, and understand the Hotfix 1.0.4 fix.
On this page+
To complete On the Run, accept Iorgu’s request, inspect the pig tracks by the bridge, follow them to Kuno’s camp, then recover the pig with an apple or catch it after the chase. The quest costs one time segment and must be completed before Sacred Covenant. Hotfix 1.0.4 fixed the infinite loading problem that could occur while progressing this quest.

On the Run is a compact Laslea story with a small confrontation and an optional ending beat. It is safer to pick up an apple before reaching the final chase, but missing one does not block completion. If you met Kuno before speaking to Iorgu, the journal can skip the initial tracking objective and point directly to retrieving the pig.
That shortcut changes the investigation order, not the final choice or reward.
Start On the Run at Iorgu’s house
Speak to Iorgu after All Good Things. His pig has dug under the fence and escaped, and he offers a reward for bringing it back. Accept the job before Sacred Covenant, which ends the window for this and the other optional prologue quests.
Head toward the nearby bridge. Check the apple tree beside it and collect apples while you are there; one gives you the simplest way to calm the pig later. Use Focus Mode on the far side of the bridge to reveal cloven hoofprints, then follow them along the riverbank.
The prints lead to Kuno’s camp. If the tracker already knows Kuno has the animal, you may arrive with the first search step skipped. That alternate journal order is expected and does not mean the quest has broken.
Choose how to handle Kuno
Kuno argues that finding the pig makes it his. The reply “I do” turns the disagreement into a fight, after which the frightened pig runs. Invoking Knyaz Brencis avoids fighting Kuno, although Kuno still cuts the animal to make it bolt. Either response continues the same recovery objective, so choose according to the tone and combat you want rather than expecting a completely different reward.
If you fight, keep the encounter controlled and avoid chasing the pig before the hostile state is resolved. If you use Brencis’s authority, be ready to follow immediately once control returns. Both branches send the pig toward the ruined house associated with Enter Not.
Follow the pig and bring it back
Follow the animal to the ruined house. With an apple in your inventory, approach and use it when prompted; Coen can calm the pig and the return is handled without a manual capture. This is why collecting fruit at the bridge is useful even though the tracker does not present it as a required objective.
Without an apple, the quest remains completable. Stay close, chase the pig into a position where you can interact, and use the displayed catch prompt. Do not assume that the missing fruit requires an earlier reload—the chase is the intended fallback.
Once the animal is secured, the scene returns Coen to Iorgu. This transition is the point that previously produced infinite loading for some players. Confirm that the game is on Hotfix 1.0.4 or later before troubleshooting the route itself.
Should you help Iorgu with the slaughter?
Back at the house, Coen learns what Iorgu plans to do with the recovered pig. Helping with the slaughter is optional. The base quest reward stays the same either way, while taking part adds four sausages.
Treat this as a role-playing decision with a small consumable reward, not as a hidden requirement for completion. If you leave, you still receive 250 XP and 50 Denarius. If you help, the extra food can be useful in the prologue, but it is not important enough to override the outcome you want for Coen.
The quest finishes after this return sequence. Check the prologue quest order before spending the next segment, especially if Deep Down, Withering Away, or another cutoff quest is still open.
On the Run infinite loading fix
Hotfix 1.0.4 specifically states that progressing On the Run should no longer cause infinite loading. If a transition still hangs, verify the installed build and restart from a save before the pig-return sequence. Repeating the chase on an older executable may reproduce the fixed problem, so update first rather than changing dialogue choices at random.
When the quest advances normally, both Kuno branches and both capture methods lead back to Iorgu. A remaining failure should be reported with the platform, build number, Kuno choice, capture method, and the objective visible before the loading screen. Those details make it possible to distinguish a new defect from the issue addressed in 1.0.4.
Sources and update note
The start, branches, reward, cutoff, and recovery methods were cross-checked against current launch walkthrough research and rewritten for this focused guide. The loading status comes from the official Hotfix 1.0.4 notes. This page was reviewed for patch impact on September 11, 2026; follow the current in-game prompt if a later build changes an interaction.
