Premysl stole Gremla’s tapestry in The Blood of Dawnwalker’s Blasphemy quest. Inspect the loom, footprints and cane marks, then rotate the torn fabric to examine its bloodstain. Find Premysl at the northeastern edge of the village search area and persuade him to return the banner if you want to save Gremla. Agreeing to keep his secret earns the Daylight Amulet, but Gremla dies during Blood Mass. Make this decision before Sacred Covenant.

Fast route through the investigation
  1. Complete the evidence

Loom → footprints twice → both sides of the fabric.

  2. Find Premysl

Northeast edge of the search area. Save before the one-segment accusation.

  3. Choose, then report

Return the banner to save Gremla, or keep the secret for the amulet.

The important planning distinction is between finding evidence and making the accusation. You can collect the clues before deciding whether to spend the segment. Finish Withering Away first if Esme still needs medicine, then use the remaining prologue time for this investigation.

Keep a manual save before confronting Premysl. This is more useful than saving only outside the church: by then the banner decision may already be recorded. Label the save with the quest name so you can compare the two outcomes without repeating the entire opening village route.

Find the bloodstain on the tapestry scrap

Speak to Gremla and inspect her loom with Focus Mode. Go to the south side of the shed and inspect the footprints twice: the first inspection identifies the larger footprint; the second reveals the cane impression. Follow the trail to the fabric. Its second identifying clue requires rotating the object, rather than merely picking it up.

Rotate the scrap in the object inspection view and examine the reverse side. The bloodstain connects the theft to an injured hand. These clue locations are documented in PC Gamer’s investigation walkthrough.

Use the quest objective as your progress check. If it still asks you to inspect the shed, revisit the loom and the ground trail rather than searching every house. If it has advanced to villagers with canes, move on to the suspect search. This separates an unfinished evidence interaction from a problem finding the right person.

A practical evidence checklist is: loom inspected, ground clues examined, fabric inspected on both sides, and suspect-search objective active. Follow that order when retracing your steps. It is quicker than questioning villagers before Coen has the evidence needed to accuse anyone.

Where to find Premysl and which interviews you can skip

Premysl sits outside the house at the northeastern end of the search area. Look for his cane and injured hand. Once the investigation has advanced to searching for cane users, you can approach him directly; Alois, Otokar and Dana provide an optional interview route.

If you prefer to follow the journal’s clues, Alois points you toward Otokar, and Dana eventually directs suspicion toward Premysl. If you already know the culprit, those interviews are not necessary for reaching the confrontation. PowerPyx’s walkthrough records the optional interviews and the segment-spending accusation.

Choose the route that fits your reason for using a guide. For a stuck objective, follow the evidence and interview trail to see which stage your save is missing. For a quick completion, go straight to Premysl after inspecting the bloodstain. Neither approach requires clearing unrelated map activities.

Before accusing him, check the remaining prologue budget. Do not mistake an optional interview for a required paid step and postpone the whole quest unnecessarily. Equally, do not confirm the accusation while assuming that every conversation is free: this is the point at which the investigation spends its segment.

Return the tapestry or keep Premysl’s secret?

Your priorityChooseImmediate reward reportedBlood Mass consequence
Save GremlaPersuade Premysl to return the banner, then tell Gremla250 XP at the confrontation; 325 XP and 25 Denarius on reportingThe banner hangs in the church
Obtain Daylight AmuletAgree with Premysl, then conceal the theft from Gremla500 XP and Daylight Amulet; 75 XP for the concealment responseGremla is killed and displayed in the church

The reward amounts above come from PowerPyx’s separate confrontation and reporting stages. Adding those listed stages gives 575 XP for either complete route. This arithmetic makes the trade-off clearer: the amulet route is not automatically a higher-XP route once both conversations are counted.

For the return route, challenge Premysl’s justification and insist on returning the banner. The agreement option, “Maybe you’re right
”, supports keeping it. After the confrontation, speak to Gremla to finish the reporting stage rather than leaving as soon as an XP notification appears.

Our recommendation is to return the tapestry on a first playthrough if preserving Gremla matters to you. Choose the amulet branch only when you deliberately want that outcome or are comparing branches from a separate save. Treat this as a character-and-reward choice, not a mandatory equipment upgrade.

Troubleshooting an investigation that will not advance

No useful accusation option: recheck the scrap’s bloodstain and current journal wording. Knowing Premysl’s name from a guide does not replace inspecting the evidence in your save. Return to the unfinished evidence stage first.

The suspect seems missing: search the northeastern edge of the highlighted village area rather than the whole Laslea Glen region. Use Focus Mode to distinguish an interactive villager from scenery, and verify the quest has moved beyond inspecting the shed.

You received XP but the quest remains open: finish the conversation with Gremla. The confrontation and the report are separate reward stages, so an XP message after one does not establish that both are complete.

Blood Mass has already started: use the pre-confrontation save to change the banner outcome. Starting a new regional trip or looking for a later vendor will not revisit the prologue decision. The quest-order hub helps plan the opening errands before that cutoff.

Sources, scope and correction note

Evidence interactions, optional interviews and the two reward stages were rechecked October 19, 2026 against the linked PowerPyx walkthrough. PC Gamer supplies the earlier location cross-check. The route diagram, total-reward comparison and save placement are this site's editorial synthesis, not personal gameplay testing. Exact dialogue wording can vary with the game's language.

This page also corrects the earlier Sacred Covenant checklist: Blasphemy is an investigation at Gremla’s shed with a one-segment confrontation, not a zero-cost cemetery activity. Consult the time-system guide when combining it with other opening quests.
