In The Blood of Dawnwalker’s Hive and Seek, follow Lacra into the cave, accept the kobolds’ guidance if you want the direct route to Chonk, and defeat Chonk before persuading the hive to spare Isbrand. Loot Isbrand’s Plate from the chest on the right side of his room before speaking to him. The plate is legendary medium chest armour. It is a chest pickup, separate from the quest’s XP and skill-point reward.

Hive and Seek start, time and reward checklist

DetailWhat to do
PrerequisiteComplete Song of the Mountain
Quest contactLacra at the Uriash village
Reported time costFour segments; check live prompts
Navigation helpAccept the speaking kobolds’ guidance
Final confrontationChonk, then the hive’s Isbrand decision
Optional gearIsbrand’s Plate in the room’s right-hand chest
Quest reward1,000 XP and one skill point

Separate the three things you are collecting from this route: quest progress, optional armour, and the outcome of the final conversation. The armour is easy to overlook if you immediately interact with the captive. Our suggested save points are outside the cave and after Chonk, before the dialogue and loot check.

If your reason for arriving here is the plate, continue through the cave to the final room; it is not a reward for a perfect conversation with Lacra. If your reason is avoiding a second fight, use the dialogue sequence below once Chonk has been defeated. Both objectives fit the same route.

Meet Lacra and traverse the silver-water cave

After Song of the Mountain, speak to Lacra at the village and follow her to the cave. Once the entrance is opened, use vampire movement to progress between platforms and walls. Silver-bearing water is an environmental hazard, so favour the dry routes where possible.

Treat a fall as a reason to return to a safe ledge and reassess, rather than repeatedly sprinting through the same pool. Identify the next landing before spending your movement resources. If you need a traversal upgrade, consult the build guide before making a long detour for unrelated equipment.

The cave contains corrupted kobold encounters before Chonk. Fight each group where you have space to watch its attacks, then look for the onward traversal route. Save your healing for damage you have actually taken; reaching the next passage with an empty supply is a poor trade for clearing one encounter a little faster.

For a confusing room, divide the problem into combat and navigation. First check that nearby enemies are dealt with, then inspect walls, platforms and crawl passages. Searching for a dialogue option will not help if you are still in an earlier traversal section of the cave.

Accept the kobold guide before the Chonk encounter

Speaking kobolds offer guidance after encounters with the corrupted ones. Agreeing lets a guide lead you along the tunnels toward the approach above Chonk’s room. This is the navigation agreement, distinct from the later argument about eating Isbrand.

Keep that distinction in mind when following a journal objective or a video timestamp. The presence of a friendly guide does not mean the final hive confrontation has already been resolved. Follow the route, deal with the corrupted enemies along it, and prepare for the room below.

If you declined the offer, use the available passages to continue exploring. Our recommendation is to accept guidance on a first run because it reduces the navigation problem while you are also managing combat and healing. That is a convenience choice, not a claim that every other dialogue option fails the quest.

PowerPyx’s detailed walkthrough documents the guide, Chonk encounter, final persuasion and chest. The checkpoint order here is arranged to help distinguish those four stages when an objective feels stuck.

Defeat Chonk, then persuade the hive

Deal with the enemies in the room and defeat Chonk, the larger corrupted kobold. Afterwards, the hive threatens Isbrand. To talk it out of attacking, choose:

  1. “Calm down and think for a moment.”
  2. “You can’t all eat at once.”
  3. “You will lose your bond if you eat it.”

These lines belong after Chonk, not before the boss approach. Use the meaning of each argument if your interface is translated: ask for calm, point out that they cannot all eat simultaneously, then warn that eating Isbrand would destroy their bond.

Our combat recommendation is to prioritise a clean view of the arena and preserve enough stamina to respond to the next attack. Check the combat guide if dodging or guarding is your immediate difficulty. Do not rebuild around an imagined armour immunity before obtaining the actual item.

Before the conversation, keep a separate save if you want to compare aggression and persuasion. A save outside the cave protects the whole route; a save after the fight is more convenient for testing only the final decision. Choose the checkpoint according to the part you want to revisit.

Isbrand’s Plate location and the final interaction

With combat resolved, look at the right side of the room and loot the chest before interacting with Isbrand. Check your equipment inventory for Isbrand’s Plate, then compare its medium-armour requirements with your current setup. Finally, speak to the captive and finish Lacra’s interaction to advance the quest.

This pickup checklist is deliberately separate from the reward checklist. Receiving XP or a skill point confirms a quest milestone, but it does not confirm that you opened every chest. If the plate is your main goal, check the inventory while you are still in the room.

For an equipment decision, compare protection, penalties and the attacks you regularly take. Legendary rarity is a reason to examine the piece, not an automatic instruction to equip it. The equipment hub explains how to assess armour without sacrificing the resources your build needs.

Troubleshooting and the official progression fix

Searching for the persuasion before Chonk: continue the guided cave route and boss encounter. The earlier kobold exchange is the guidance agreement, not the final three-line argument.

Plate missing after quest rewards: check whether you looted the right-hand chest before the final interaction. If you kept a room save, load it to inspect the chest and inventory directly.

Progression stopped on an older build: official Hotfix 1.0.4 fixed one solution ending prematurely. Update the game and retry from a save before the affected transition; the announcement does not promise that resting at a shrine repairs every existing quest state.

Reviewed October 10, 2026 against the named walkthrough and official announcement. The encounter checklist, save placement and equipment comparison are editorial advice. This revision corrects the dialogue order and chest pickup, removes unsupported plate bonuses, and replaces the earlier personal-testing claim.
